Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

• Load and unload passenger luggage, air cargo, bulk, and/or containers/pallets onto carts and/or dollies and the airport belt system.
• Load and unload wheelchairs and child strollers, delivering them to designated locations.
• Provide special handling of luggage/cargo as required or directed.
• Deliver passenger luggage to the claim area and unload it onto the conveyor system.
• Deliver air cargo to the appropriate recipient.
• Drive and operate ground support equipment, including tow tractors, belt loaders, container loaders, baggage tugs, baggage carts, and cargo dollies.
• Collect and load mail, live animals, wheelchairs, and child strollers onto the aircraft.
• Report all equipment malfunctions to the appropriate Supervisor/Manager.
• Comply with all UCAA legislation and UR security requirements.
• Adhere to UR Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Maintain the highest standards of safety and security at all times.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Experience):

• Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE)
• Flexibility to work various shifts (days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays)
• Proficiency in English
• Ability to travel to the airport during times when public transport is not available
• Adherence to processes and procedures with a flexible approach when needed
• Willingness to work in inclement weather conditions
• Capability to work in a manual environment and repeatedly lift up to 32kg throughout a shift
• Ability to work as part of a team in a challenging environment
• Possession of a full driving license
• Previous experience in an aviation environment is required
• Multilingual abilities are an added advantage
