Program Summary

The Delivering Resilient Enterprises and Market Systems (DREAMS) program, in collaboration with Village Enterprise, Mercy Corps, and IDinsight, aims to improve the well-being of 150,000 individuals in Uganda’s West Nile region. DREAMS combines poverty graduation and market systems development to increase household income, savings, and assets while enhancing food security and well-being.

General Position Summary

The MEL Intern will assist the DREAMS program team in data entry and verification, ensuring all program data is accurately recorded and properly labeled. The intern will support the Senior MEL Officer in maintaining an up-to-date program database and ensure the safe and proper use of data entry equipment.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities

  • Enter and verify program data.
  • Properly file and label MoVs.
  • Support the MEL Officer in data verification.
  • Provide weekly progress updates.
  • Participate in data quality verifications and cleaning.
  • Consolidate DREAMS databases for upload.
  • Ensure the safety and maintenance of data entry equipment.
  • Adhere to Mercy Corps’ policies and maintain confidentiality of data.
  • Scan MoVs collected from the field.
  • Complete assignments professionally and punctually.
  • Other duties as requested by the line supervisor.

Accountability to Beneficiaries

  • Support efforts toward accountability to beneficiaries and international standards.
  • Engage beneficiary communities in the design, monitoring, and evaluation of projects.
  • Sensitize communities on DREAMS’ CARM system and encourage feedback.

Minimum Qualification & Transferable Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields (e.g., Statistics, Economics, Business Administration).
  • Graduated between 2022 and 2024 with at least a Second-Class Upper degree.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Attention to detail and teamwork abilities.
  • Openness to learning and a positive attitude.
  • Excellent writing skills.

Program Summary

The Climate Change Leaders Advancing for Peace (CCLAP) project, funded by the Austrian Development Agency, aims to support women and girls in overcoming gender inequality and strengthening climate resilience for peace in Karamoja and neighboring communities.

General Position Summary

The MEL Assistant will ensure quality data collection for the CCLAP project, support assessments, and contribute to reporting. They will work closely with the Senior MEL Officer to ensure effective monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of program activities and results.

Essential Job Functions

  • Work with the program team and local partners on monitoring and reporting.
  • Support the development of MEL tools.
  • Coordinate reporting with local partners.
  • Compile progress against indicators.
  • Perform spot checks on program activities.
  • Ensure adherence to MEL standards.
  • Support updates to the CCLAP TOLA account.
  • Develop community accountability mechanisms.
  • Participate in household identification and verification.
  • Support baseline, mid-term, and final evaluations.
  • Build capacity of team members on MEL tools.

Accountability to Beneficiaries

  • Support accountability efforts toward beneficiaries and international standards.
  • Engage communities in project design, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Sensitize communities on CCLAP’s CARM system and encourage feedback.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in management, statistics, economics, or related field.
  • Strong data management and computer skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
  • Team coordination and analytical skills.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
  • 1-2 years of experience in M&E, community development, or related fields.
  • Ability to drive a motorbike or willingness to obtain a license.
