Job Details

Main Purpose:

To participate in the design, planning, and optimization of MTN UG VAS platforms, achieving a cost-effective and optimal VAS network design, and timely deployment of quality products and services in line with business strategic objectives.

Main Job Functions:

  • Design and dimension VAS systems and new products/services to support marketing.
  • Plan and design network architecture to serve VAS network growth in traffic, subscribers, and capacity.
  • Conduct research and feasibility studies for new products, producing professional technical reports.
  • Plan the evolution of Value-Added Services such as messaging, mobile data, WAP, multimedia products, and third-party applications.
  • Produce Functional and Technical Specification documents for new products/services.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to define best solutions for new products/services.
  • Interface with vendors on market releases and technology upgrades for quick deployment of innovative products/services.
  • Develop UNIX/shell scripts for processing statistics and other data from VAS platforms.
  • Collaborate with marketing and business development for service and product planning.
  • Manage technical design, deployment, and maintenance planning issues with vendors.
  • Track projects to ensure product launches within specified timelines.
  • Ensure accuracy of VAS performance statistics and capacity planning forecasts.
  • Develop technical and tender specification documents for procurement and deployment.
  • Act as technical lead in VAS projects managed by Capital Projects.
  • Prepare long-term evolution plans for VAS systems.
  • Champion automation and efficiency within the department.

Education:

  • BSc Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, or a related course.

Experience:

  • Unix/Solaris/Linux and Database Administration Skills.
  • 1 year of experience in IN planning or operations.
  • 1 year of experience in a Mobile GSM Network Environment.
  • 1 year of experience in UNIX shell scripting and database administration.
  • Competence with Oracle/MySQL Databases.
  • Proficiency in UNIX and LINUX operating systems.
  • Strong shell scripting skills and proficiency in at least one programming language.
  • Basic IP networking knowledge.

Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:

  • Exposure to GSM Network management processes, VAS, and Charging/Billing systems.
  • Unix/Linux System administration.
  • Database Management Skills.
  • Shell scripting/Programming.
  • Basic IP networking knowledge.
  • Quick learner with good knowledge of CS Core planning techniques.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Self-motivated with good communication skills.
  • Team player.

Job Details

Main Purpose:

The primary role of the Desktop Publisher is to design campaign elements for traditional advertising, supporting both internal and external communication. The developer will also create or adapt visual communication and promotional materials to support the brand’s objectives.

Main Job Functions:

  • Execute briefs by creating materials to specified design requirements.
  • Design digital collateral for MTN’s assets and adapt existing design materials.
  • Act as the AVP for digital and offline assets for ad hoc campaigns.
  • Design 3D Animations and Modeling for ad hoc campaigns.
  • Translate UX designs into relevant CSS and supported files for backend execution.
  • Create and maintain style guides and visualization documents aligned with MTN Brand CI.
  • Support brainstorming sessions with agency and client teams.
  • Review third-party design executions to ensure alignment with MTN Brand standards.
  • Present work logically and excitingly for easy user digestion.
  • Manage jobs and accountability for deadlines.
  • Develop software tools to support digital campaigns/engagements and traditional advertising.
  • Support design of traditional advertising and perform frontend/UX design for software projects.

Key Areas of Performance Include:

  • Prototype development.
  • Testing and optimization of prototypes.
  • Graphic design for digital and traditional advertising channels.

Education:

  • A related university degree, apprenticeship, or other higher education qualification.

Experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience in a commercial environment or advertising agencies with traditional and digital design competencies.
  • Ability to read and interpret strategic papers and briefs.
  • Experience with production houses and online media design entities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:

  • Up-to-date with tools, skills, and design trends in the industry.
  • Understanding of local market audiences and design thinking process rooted in local insight.
  • Strong networks for discussing trends and ideas.
