Job Summary:
The Logistics Assistant (Commodity Management) will coordinate day-to-day logistics and commodity management operations, ensuring the management and accounting of commodities stored at all Final Distribution Points (FDPs) under the Area of Operations, in collaboration with the World Food Programme (WFP).
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and share accurate daily and weekly reports on food and non-food items (NFIs) in AFOD stores with WFP.
- Report any anomalies encountered from/by transporters during cargo delivery from Extended Delivery Points (EDPs) to FDPs.
- Utilize AFOD documents for supply chain transactions as per WFP rules and regulations.
- Reconcile stock reports with the commodity-tracking unit on a daily and monthly basis.
- Implement loss mitigation measures, perform loss analysis, and report findings.
- Monitor and supervise food handling activities at all FDPs.
- Support logistics operations and activities to ensure effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries.
- Manage and account for all General Food Distribution NFIs stored at FDPs.
- Respond to technical queries and support requests to ensure timely and accurate resolution.
- Perform additional duties as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A University Degree in Accounts, Procurement & Logistics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field from a recognized institution. Alternatively, a Diploma in the aforementioned fields with extensive relevant working experience.
- At least four years of relevant experience in a related field from a reputable organization.
- Proficiency in implementing warehouse procedures and managing WFP’s warehouse and inventory systems.
- Experience in training laborers on appropriate stacking methods, identifying potential risks, and coordinating with transporters.
Core Competencies:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Packages and other Networking Operating Systems.
- Excellent command of written and oral English.
- Ability and willingness to work in remote field locations under basic conditions.
- Strong interpersonal and team skills.
- Ability to present concise reports promptly.
